CARES Task Force

Description

The El Dorado County CARES Program utilizes three funding streams: First 5 El Dorado, First 5 California, and the State Department of Education, Child Development Division (AB212).  The program invites child care and development providers to work with Advisors who have been trained and certified as Professional Growth Advisors by the Child development Training Consortium.
The providers will develop an education plan with the goal of completing at least 6 college units in one year.  Once enrolled, providers will be given a stipend of $900 every six months for successful progress on their plan.  The goal of the educational plan is to assist each provider in obtaining or increasing the level of their child development permit from the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing.

Priorities:  To prioritize, select and develop alternate list for providers applying to the CARES Program based upon guidelines approved by the Council.

INCLUSION ADVISORY COMMITTEE (IAC)

Description

Under SB 1703, El Dorado County has received $49,431 to develop a plan, provide training and technical assistance, and to support community outreach activities to increase the capacity of non-state subsidized providers to serve children with disabilities.  Through a collaborative agreement with Choices For Children, funds will be held by the Early Care and Education Planning Council with the intent of leveraging additional funding.   The Strategic Plan will include strategies to provide training and technical assistance to parents and providers and include community outreach activities.  Funding priority will be given to those activities in the plan.
The Council has convened a Task Force to gather community input and develop a strategic plan.  The Task Force will oversee the implementation of Result Area III from the Council’s 2000 Strategic Plan, “improving access to child care and development programs for children with disabilities and children at-risk of abuse or neglect.”

Priorities:  Strategic plan to meet the needs of children with special needs and/or at risk of abuse or neglect
